Since 2013, I have been crafting frames from buffalo horn. Over these years, I have supplied several hundred customers with custom-made frames — each frame a unique piece, each completely handcrafted. These years have made me what I am today: a professional in the craft of buffalo horn eyewear.
I am supported by Gundula Prinz, my longtime graphic designer, who designs and draws the shapes. Everything that follows is entirely in my hands. The blank is milled from the horn plate using a CNC machine — that's the only step where a machine has a say. Everything else is handwork. The grinding. The sanding. The careful removal of material, layer by layer, until the shape is right. The breaking of edges, the finishing of the surface — guided by hand, controlled by eye, assessed by feel. No grinding drum, no automation, no quick process. Just tools, material, and time. I am an eyewear craftsman by passion — my main business is pashmina.de, an online shop for cashmere and pashmina that I have been running for over two decades. The workshop is my balance. And my joy.
After years of custom work, I have reoriented myself. Today I focus on what excites me most: designing and building sunglasses from buffalo horn — in my shapes, according to my vision.
Bachoff is a small manufactory. I build only a few frames each month — each one individually, each by hand.
Those who wear my frames wear hours of my work. That obligates me to a standard I hold myself to: every frame must be so good that I hand it over with joy.
Welcome to Bachoff.
Yours, Tim Klein
